Speaker 0 00:00:00 Hi, I'm Zach McCreary. Here's your U sports report for this week? Speaker 0 00:00:09 Yesterday, the eighth ranked Northwestern softball team faced off against the UIC flames at the J in Evanston for a round of Tuesday, soft softball immediately. The cats held the flames scoreless in the first inning, all scoring 10 runs in their half of the inning. They scored another six in the second and five more in the fourth. Ayanna Lindsay led the way with two hits, three run scored and six RBI on the day. Cats win by run rule 21 to two in the fifth, and they improved to 35 and seven on the season. Their next series will be against the Iowa Hawkeye starting Friday at 4:00 PM in Evanston. Meanwhile, the men played the Milwaukee Panthers at home yesterday, and it was wakas all the way. Da Trube Fontez hit a three run Homer in the second inning and they didn't look back after that. Anthony Larco hit an RBI double in the same inning to score Ethan O'Donnell first little of four runs in the second inning. Speaker 0 00:01:01 Rustic hit a Homer of his own, his ninth of the season in the bottom of the sixth to put another two on the board. The Panthers were shut out as the cats win eight to nothing they're 19 and 17 this season, and they play at Maryland for a three game series starting Friday at five 30 central and on Sunday. The second ranked women's lacrosse team was in college to play the number eight, Maryland terrapins for the regular season finale, Maryland turned it on in the first half. Outscoring the cats, five to 10 attack. Jill Gerardi was the top score for the Wildcats with a hat trick on the day, going two for four on free positions. However, it wasn't enough to best the terrapins Libby may with a total of seven goals from eight shots on Sunday, cats lost nine to 15. In the end, the upset gives Maryland at least a share of the big 10 regular season title. They still have one conference game to play at Michigan, and if they lose, then they'll split the title with the Northwestern Wildcats. Otherwise they keep it all to themselves. The cats will be on break for a week before the start of the big 10 tournament. Hosted by quarter finals will start on May 6th, and that wraps up your sports report for this week.
